OSMOTIC PENETRATION MORTAR FOR WATERPROOFING SURFACES

GECO OSMOTIC waterproofing is a single-component osmotic penetration mortar that waterproofs concrete and masonry against water under pressure, including negative hydrostatic pressure above 250 kPa (36 psi). It is the solution for walls wet from the ground side: basements, lift pits, retaining and backfilled walls, tunnels and underground passages.

Conforming to EN 1504-2, it also protects concrete against CO₂ and carbonation, is UV-stable and resists freeze-thaw cycles and the salts and ammonium commonly dissolved in water. Anti-sagging technology makes vertical application easy.

It is applied in two or more 1-2 mm (0.039 to 0.079 in) coats 24 h apart (final thickness 3-5 mm (0.118 to 0.197 in)), with an alkali-resistant mesh between coats on cracked, uneven or mixed substrates and at wall-floor corners.

Resistance to negative hydrostatic pressure: > 250 kPa (> 36 psi).
CO₂ permeability: Sd > 200 m (> 656 ft) (requirement > 50 m (> 164 ft)); water vapour permeability: class I.
Capillary water absorption coefficient: < 0.05 kg/(m²·h⁰·⁵) (< 0.01 lb/(ft²·h⁰·⁵)).
Adhesion: > 0.8 MPa (> 116 psi); > 0.5 MPa (> 73 psi) after freeze-thaw, thunder-shower and thermal ageing cycles.
Flexural strength: > 7 MPa (> 1,015 psi); compressive strength: > 25 MPa (> 3,626 psi) (28 days).
Thickness per coat: 1-2 mm (0.039 to 0.079 in), 2 or more coats; consumption: 1.55 kg/m² per mm of thickness (8.06 lb/ft² per inch of thickness); fresh density: 2050 ± 50 kg/m³ (128 ± 3.1 lb/ft³).
Mixing water: 5.0-5.5 L (1.3-1.5 US gal) per bag; open time: 40 minutes; application between +5 °C (41 °F) and +35 °C (95 °F).
25 kg (55 lb) bags; pallet of 60 bags; shelf life 12 months in a dry place.
