MALTA BLOCK 600

THERMALLY INSULATING MASONRY MORTAR. 600 kg/m3 (37.5 lb/ft³)

MALTA BLOCK 600 is a ready-to-use thermal mortar for insulating masonry (EN 998-2), made of hydraulic binders and virgin EPS beads (Ø 2-3 mm (0.079 to 0.118 in)) coated with the E.I.A. additive. It is the mortar of the SMARTBLOCK® system and of all lightweight, highly insulating cement blocks.

Where a normal mortar would create a thermal bridge at every joint, MALTA BLOCK 600 keeps the wall homogeneous: λD 0.158 W/mK (1.1 BTU·in/(h·ft²·°F)), M2.5 class and A1 fire reaction. It is light (approx. 600 kg/m³ (37.5 lb/ft³)), easy to mix and one 50 L (13.2 US gal) bag lays about 5 m² (54 ft²) of wall.

Thermal conductivity λD: 0.158 W/mK (1.1 BTU·in/(h·ft²·°F)).
Compressive strength: > 2.5 N/mm² (> 363 psi) (M2.5); flexural strength > 0.69 N/mm² (> 100 psi); initial shear strength 0.15 N/mm² (22 psi).
Water vapour diffusion resistance factor μ: 13; water absorption 0.09 kg/(m²·min⁰·⁵) (W2); chloride content < 0.02%.
Reaction to fire: A1.
Yield: 1 bag = 5 m² (54 ft²); mixing water 15-18 L (4-4.8 US gal) per bag; mix 5-10 minutes with drill or cement mixer.
Application between +5 °C (41 °F) and +35 °C (95 °F), not in direct sunlight.
50 L (13.2 US gal) bags; pallet of 40 bags (44 or 48 on request).
