In the renovation and restoration of the Philips Tower, a reinforced concrete building in the centre of Brussels, the structures were protected from fire for 60 minutes with PROTHERM LIGHT®, a sprayed lightweight cementitious plaster. The required thickness of only 10 mm (13/32 in) in a single coat meant using about 135,000 kg (297,624 lb) of material, against an estimated 405,000 kg (892,871 lb) for a traditional 20 mm (13/16 in), two-coat solution. Unaffected by moisture, the product stayed exposed for about a year before the façade was installed, and also gives a white finish with a very good appearance.
